Dr. Mark Silberman is the new president of Clinical Pathology Laboratories. Prior to assuming the role of president of the company, he served as the CPL laboratory director for 15 years. Dr. Silberman previously served as vice president at Clinical Pathology Associates in Austin and has been a member of the local medical community since 1999

Dr. Christine Burgess will continue as the medical director for our chemistry, hematopathology, microbiology, and molecular pathology departments. She is a native of Austin and has served the medical community locally since 2007. She previously served as the medical director to Austin Regional Clinic laboratories and as a partner at Clinical Pathology Associates in Austin.
Board certified in clinical pathology with a subspecialty certification in hematopathology.

Eric P. Fillman, MD, FCAP, FASCP |
Dr. Eric Fillman is the medical director of our Dermatopathology team and leads this department for the laboratory. He earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He previously served as an employee of Clinical Pathology Associates in San Antonio, while also serving as the laboratory medical director for Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Fillman is a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel who spent over 23 years on active duty as a dermatopathologist in the US Army Medical Corps. Notably, he served as the chief of dermatopathology, at San Antonio Military Medical Center and as the lead pathologist for the entire Iraqi Theater of Operations while deployed to Iraq in 2005. He was twice awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Iraqi Campaign Medal.
Board certified in dermatopathology, anatomic and clinical pathology.
- He completed his dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Aurora, Colorado.

He completed his residency in pathology from the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Kimberly Monnin, MD, MS, FCAP, FASCP |
Dr. Kimberly Monnin will continue as the medical director for our hematology and flow cytometry pathology departments. She is a native of Austin and has served the local medical community since 2012. She previously was a partner at Clinical Pathology Associates in Austin. Prior to that, she served as the laboratory medical director for Sutter Memorial Hospital in California.
Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology with a subspecialty certification in hematopathology.

Shannon Kratzer, MD, FCAP, FASCP |
Dr. Shannon Kratzer will continue as the medical director for our women’s health and cytology departments, leading initiatives with a strong focus on breast pathology and gynecologic cytopathology with expertise in gynecological disorders. He was a partner and previously served as vice president of Clinical Pathology Associates in Austin. He has been a member of the Austin medical community since 1998.

Dr. Joseph Willman specializes in dermatopathology and has over 19 years of experience at Clinical Pathology Laboratories. He has been a member of the Austin medical community since 2003. He previously served as the laboratory director of Sonic Reference Laboratories in Austin and is a former partner at Clinical Pathology Associates.

Dr. Vivian Hathuc will focus in hematopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology. She previously served as an assistant professor of pathology and associate residency program director at St. Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri. She has experience with, and is published in, cutaneous lymphoproliferative disorders.

Dr. Jeanette Ruiz has recently joined Clinical Pathology Laboratories and will focus in Women’s Health, anatomic and clinical pathology, and cytopathology. Prior to joining CPL, she was a Pathologist at Clinical Pathology Associates and Medical Director of AdventHealth Central Texas. She previously served as a Pathologist and Clinical Instructor at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, UCSF Department of Pathology.

Dr. Hui Zhu will focus on cytopathology as well as anatomic and clinical pathology. She will provide leadership to CPL’s Women’s Health initiatives. She previously served as a staff pathologist at HCA North Cypress Medical Center in the Houston area. Prior to that role, she served as associate professor of pathology at University of Texas Medical School at Houston and assistant professor at University at Buffalo School of Medicine.

Dana Claire Gingell, MD, FCAP |
Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Inc., a Sonic Healthcare laboratory, is proud to announce that Dana Claire Gingell, M.D., has joined our medical team as a board-certified pathologist in anatomic and clinical pathology with fellowship training in cytology, breast, and gynecologic pathology. Dr. Gingell has been serving the medical community since 2010, starting her medical journey at Pan Pacific Pathologists, LLC, Honolulu, HI as an anatomic and clinical pathologist and cytopathologist. Dr. Gingell’s most recent experience serving the medical community was during her role as an anatomic and clinical pathologist and cytopathologist at Diagnostic Pathology Services, Inc., Nampa, ID.
